Rollin’ Rockies Seek Head Coach
Colorado’s only wheelchair softball team – the Rollin’ Rockies, is looking for a head coach to help guide the team in the 2009 season. The team is looking for an experienced baseball/softball player or coach who is knowledgeable in the fundamentals of the game and who can offer instruction. Wheelchair softball follows the same rules as set forth by the Amateur Softball Association of America (ASA) with a few exceptions geared toward the wheelchair.Homeruns and double-plays are as much a part of wheelchair softball as they are in the able-bodied version of the sport.
The team plans to conduct weekly practices on Thursday evenings at Jason Jennings Adaptive Field in Lakewood and will host several games throughout the summer. This non-paid position is highly rewarding and will offer several networking opportunities with local and state agencies including the Colorado Rockies MLB franchise.
For more information about the Rollin’ Rockies and to apply, please visit the team’s website at www.rollinrockies.com
We hope you enjoy our new website. Please check out the Events Schedule and Calendar to keep yourself current on the latest happenings in CWS.
In Memory of Larry Sidebottom (1957-2008)
The Denver Community has lost a great leader in Larry Sidebottom. Larry's vision was to have opportunities for all wheelchair athletes. CWSA has set up the Larry Sidebottom Memorial Fund at First Bank. Money raised will be used for a bench in Larry's Memory at the Whitlock Recreation Center. You can participate through a tax deductible donation. If the bench project is completed, additional money will be used by CWSA to develop sports programs in basketball, hockey, rugby, tennis, softball, and football. The sports are ones that Larry wanted to strengthen during his time as co-founder of CWSA.
